There are multiple ways that the system controller can communicate with and control devices, it has redundant Ethernet data circuits and multiple serial data circuits for simple and reliable external comms (the serial circuits each have multiple different physical interfaces making interoperability with other kit easy). Its intelligence is configurable and it's enormously flexible in how it controls vital services such as recording, cameras, external video conferencing feeds, broadcast outputs, privacy circuits voting systems and seat assignment to name just a few. The PBS-PM provides the intelligence that sets the state of all other equipment in a main chamber and works as the heart of the system. It houses a sophisticated microprocessor (mini computer) that provides real time messaging and control to/ from the audio DSP racks, loudspeaker amps, control interfaces and external devices. Whether your chamber has 50 seats or 350 the PBS-PM will competently act as theheart of your system seamlessly interfacing all other equipment in your system.
Tech Note:
There are multiple ways that the system controller can communicate with and control devices, it has redundant Ethernet data circuits and multiple serial data circuits for simple and reliable external comms (the serial circuits each have multiple different physical interfaces making interoperability with other kit easy).
These consist of a System Controller and one or multiple audio Digital Signal Processor
(DSP) racks.
1) MAIN CHAMBER
Separate DSP racks were designed to work alongside the System Controller in the Main Chamber systems. As one System Controller can connect to multiple DSP racks this allows an almost limitless expandability of inputs/ outputs that can cope with very large chambers.
2) COMMITTEE ROOMS
Committee room master units are single 1RU subracks that house both the System Controller and a fixed quantity of DSPs. This system is compact but not expandable above its quoted maximum number of audio I/O circuits. One other key difference between the two systems is that the 'Main Chambers' are conceived to be highly complex and potentially noisy environments where an operator is needed to select delegates microphones on/ off, whereas the Committee Rooms system includes an automatic mic selection mode that if required can replace an operator.
