The GS-MPITBU003 houses a GS-MPI005HD Glensound HD Voice Broadcasters' Mobile Phone and a GS-PASTE201 in a 1U 19" rackmount. The GS-MPI005HD is powered from a 12V PSU and the GS-PASTE201 is line powered. Both units operate independently from each other.

The Broadcasters' Mobile Phone feature of the GS-MPITBU003 is based on the same technology as the GS-MPI004 HD portable mobile phone, but putting it all together in a 1RU 19 inch subrack designed for permanent installation in an outside broadcast truck or studio and the GS-MPI004 HD is a portable unit.

Both ends of the connection must be AMR-WB compatible for a HD Voice connection. The GS-MPITBU003 is therefore the perfect HD Voice partner for the portable Broadcasters' Mobile Phone GS-MPI004 HD.

The GS-MPITBU003 is powered from an external 12v DC power source on a 4 pin XLR.

Remote Control
A rear panel RJ45 connects to our own desktop controller the GS-MPI005HD/REMD for full and simple control next to an operators position.  There is also a USB for connection to a PC.  This allows control by systems such as BNCS, or our own PC based software controller, GS-MPI005HD/REMS.  Details of both of these remotes is available by clicking below.

GSM & UMTS
To make broadcasting from anywhere in the World easy the GS-MPITBU003D has a QUAD BAND GSM interface as well as 3G UMTS.  This allows connectivity with most of the Worlds mobile phone networks and a SIM card holder, accessible via the front panel, allows different network SIMs or roaming SIM cards to be quickly and easily fitted or changed.

The HD Voice audio quality is explained on the next tab, but what about 2G GSM quality? Because the GS-MPI004HD has a digital GSM module the audio quality is the best you will ever get from a phone network. With the audio being in the digital domain separation between the go and return channels is 100% which far outperforms even the very best standard wired telephone hybrids. 

Our chief engineer has spent a long time perfecting the compressor/ limiter circuit and the audio input circuits to the phone network for you, the result means that you only need to roughly set the input level and the high quality electronics will make sure that your signal is sent without distortion to the studio.

The GS-MPITBU003 is available in a European and a non European version.  The non European version has a 3G frequency of 850 mHz.

The TBU feature of the GS-MPI003 is a line powered, heavy duty analogue telephone balancing unit. It allows professional audio equipment such as mixers, talkback systems or headphone circuits to be connected to a traditional analogue telephone line. 

A tone generator has been included to help with line balancing. Once a line is connected the tone can be switched on, so that the R and C can be balanced accordingly. Instructions for this are printed on the side of the unit.Once the best balance is achieved, the tone can be turned off.

A front panel LED indicates an incoming call. There is also an audible ringer which can be turned off if required.

Telco Connections
There is an RJ-11 connector for external handset to allow dialling of outgoing calls. An On/Off Hook switch (with indicator) allows answering of calls when and external telephone is not connected.

There is also an RJ-11 connector for connection to a normal telephone line. A recessed switch switches RJ-11 telephone line pairs (there are 2 different standards used Worldwide), for worldwide compatability.

Glensound HD Voice 
The Glensound Broadcasters' Mobile Phone - now with Glensound HD Voice, giving you up to 7 kHz audio bandwidth on a 3G (UMTS) network for the same price as a normal GSM call.  The GS-MPIHD Range features AMR-WB (adaptive multirate wide band), sometimes known as G722.2. This algorithm is more commonly known as HD Voice.  This extra bandwidth makes a significant difference in call quality, with improved lower frequency response and much clearer audio.

A Reliable Connection
Glensound HD Voice connects as a 3G (UMTS) GSM call, not a data call, so when connected you will not lose call quality over the duration of a call as often experienced on an IP call.

If 3G (UMTS) is not available, the call will connect as a standard 2G GSM call. The GS-MPIHD Range can be set to 2G only mode, a 3G (UMTS) only mode or auto. In auto, a connected 3G (UMTS) call will drop back to 2G if you move outside of a 3G (UMTS) signal area. Please note that it will not switch back if you re-enter a 3G (UMTS) area.  Both ends of the connection must be AMR-WB compatible for a HD Voice connection. 

Glensound HD Voice At Large Events
As Glensound HD Voice is just a voice call, it is not affected by the low data rates that are experienced at stadiums and events with 50,000 people.  You do not need to rely on a getting a 2MB connection - it doesn't use the data path.  It simply connects as a normal voice call.  This is the key point that makes the Glensound HD Voice system perfect for reporting or talkback at busy news and sport events.

AMR-WB Availability
Availability of AMR-WB is network specific, and varies from country to country. New countries are enablingf HD Voice all the time.  Please click the download tab for a list of the courrent countries that have enabled the service.

Extra Bandwidth.....for free!!!
HD Voice is a transparant and free service.  So the GS-MPIHD range will just work on 7kHz, at no extra cost over a regular 2G GSM call. Remember, the network sees this as a voice call, not a data call
